Naturopathic Nutrition

Advice, Coaching and support to help you tailor your eating habits and diet, to suit your personality and constitutional needs.

Seeking nutritional advice can be daunting. Food forms an integral part of our life and is closely linked to our emotions, thus seeking change can be very difficult. This was the reason I began my journey with Nutritional Therapy.

Just like many of you, I recognised that my eating habits needed to improve, so I did what I always do and studied it. The truth is, I thought I knew what I should be eating but what I learnt changed things completely. But even then, I still found change hard, and this is why I chose to add hypnosis into the equation. Pre-recorded hypnosis tracks can be played at the end of each session to help remove any barriers to success.

My approach is based on your personal health as an individual and your constitution. Nutritional advice is personalised for you. I aim to help you to understand the root issue & to coach you through the process of change, step by step, at a speed you are happy with. The basis for change comes from understanding who you are, and what your personality traits are. No two people are alike & all recommendations are tailored for you specifically.

My aim is to EMPOWER you with KNOWLEDGE & CONFIDENCE. Food should be enjoyable and not stressful, so understanding how to eat flexibly is very important.

Naturopathic Nutrition is the practice of nutrition within the context of naturopathic medicine. Naturopathy is a system of health care which promotes the body’s own self-healing mechanism.

Each individual is considered to be unique and receives personalised nutrition and lifestyle programmes rather than a ‘one size fits all approach.

NATUROPATHIC PRINCIPLES

Naturopathy is based on principles and employs various therapies and diagnostic tools. A Naturopath follows Naturopathic principles with the aim to get the body back to health. The roots of Naturopathy can be traced back to the Greek philosopher Hippocrates, and the Hippocratic School of Medicine in 400 BC. Hippocrates valued the principles of Eastern medicine and believed in viewing a person as a whole, seeking the underlying cause of a disease by using the laws of nature to stimulate healing. Principles used are:

1. The Healing Power of Nature:
The body can heal itself, given the right condition and treatment. There is a ‘Vital Force’ which is stimulated to promote health.

2. Treat the Cause, not a symptom:
Identify the underlying cause of illness rather than eliminating (suppressing) symptoms.

3. First do no Harm:
A Naturopath will always choose the most natural, least invasive and least toxic treatment, to avoid creating other imbalances or side effects.

4. Treat the Whole Person:
Recognise a patient’s individuality by taking into account individual physical, mental, genetic, environmental, social, and other factors.

5. Prevention is preferable to cure:
Prevention is preferable to cure in order to keep the bodies Vital Force at all times at its optimum.

6. Doctor as Teacher:
The Naturopath educates their patients by bringing a better understanding of health, how to maintain it and how to avoid getting sick. This way the patient can take responsibility for himself.

How we help:

1. GOALS

What do you feel that you want to change and why?

We establish what your goals are and what is your motivating factors.

2. BARRIERS

We examine what are the things that are currently preventing you from making the changes you want.

We consider how we can remove these barriers to success.

Continued support through-out by giving you new knowledge and skills to understand both food and your own personal nutritional needs.

3. COACHING

Nutritional therapy is not a replacement for medical advice and we will always refer any client with ‘red flag’ signs or symptoms to their medical professional.

Quote:

"Food is not just calories. It talks to your DNA and tells it what to do. The most powerful tool to change your health, environment and entire health, is your fork"
