Fertility & Gynaecology

Fertility Support.

Going through fertility issues can be a lonely journey, and many people feel unable to share their troubles with even their closest friends and families.  The stigma attached to infertility is very damaging for many people and sadly it is an all too common issue with around 1 in 7 couples having difficulty conceiving. The good news is that about 84% of couples will conceive naturally within a year if they have regular unprotected sex (every 2 or 3 days).

My approach involves a combination of acupuncture, nutritional advice, naturopathic techniques and self hypnosis to prepare the body for pregnancy. By rebalancing and optimising reproductive health we maximise the chances of a successful pregnancy.

Fertility is a subject close to my heart. After 5 miscarriages myself, I know only too well what an emotional rollercoaster the fertility journey can be. It's a privilege to help others on their way and provide support through the process.

For every stage of your Fertility Journey.

  • If you are planning on getting pregnant in the next year, you may want to consider a Fertility Cleanse or learning more about Fertility Nutrition.

  • PCOS is one of the most common causes of female infertility. Acupuncture has been shown to reduce the number of ovarian cysts, stimulate ovulation, enhance blastocyst implantation and regulate the menstrual cycle in women with PCOS. It can also help to manage many other gynaecological issues such as endometriosis and irregular cycles.

  • Improve your fertility with the wisdom of the Traditional Chinese Medicine. Acupuncture has been shown to affect hormone levels by promoting the release of beta-endorphin in the brain, which affects the release of gonadotrophin releasing hormone by the hypothalamus, follicle stimulating hormone from the pituitary gland, and oestrogen and progesterone levels from the ovary.

  • Acupuncture support during assisted conception may be very beneficial, helping to keep your body comfortable in the context of the effects of the drug therapy, and helping to keep you calm and relaxed throughout your assisted treatment.

“IVF with acupuncture increased the odds of pregnancy by 65% (according to early evidence on ultrasound), increased the odds of ongoing pregnancy by 87% (according to ultrasound evidence of pregnancy at 12 weeks) and increased the odds of a live birth by 91% compared with IVF on its own.”

  • Acupuncture can help to improve sperm quality by lowering scrotal temperature and improving sperm maturation in the epididymis, increasing testosterone levels, and reducing liquid peroxidation of sperm.

Studies have shown that occasionally reducing the temperature of the scrotal area by just a few degrees can reverse male infertility. The enzymes responsible for testosterone and sperm production work most effectively at a certain optimally-cool temperature.

  • Many people credit acupuncture for easing a wide range of pregnancy symptoms including heartburn, swelling in the legs, carpal tunnel syndrome, sciatica, other back pain, headaches and morning sickness.

In my own experience it helped me manage Hypermesis Gravidarum and helped to turn both my babies when they were breech.

  • Supporting physical and mental wellbeing after your baby’s birth. It can help speed healing after a caesarian section, increase milk supply and lactation issues and help your mental health as you adapt to becoming a mother.

  • A Danish study found that five weeks of acupuncture in women with menopausal symptoms reduced hot flushes, night sweats, sleep disturbances and emotional problems.

Testimonial

"I went for acupuncture with Lindsay after two consecutive miscarriages last year. I was physically and emotionally devastated and exhausted, but Lindsay treated me with such unrelenting empathy and understanding. She is very genuine and knowledgeable and took my aim of a successful pregnancy very seriously and treated me systematically varying to suit my needs on the day.

I am very uncomfortable with needles and have very sensitive skin, but she was very compassionate and allowed me to take it at my own pace. After three months, she had a sixth sense I was pregnant before I even told her. 9 months later (with ongoing support from Lindsay) came a wonderfully healthy 9lb 4oz baby girl! I credit it all to Lindsays help, and I would recommend her to anyone and everyone!"
